Hydrology & Flood Assessment

With climate changes, the risk of flooding increases. The available tools to support detailed assessment tend to be from satellite or localised ground based manual surveys. This can be improved by undertaking rapid and cost-effective surveys across the catchment using techniques which will support both DSM and DTM terrain based mapping, as well as the identification of water features, waterlogged areas and drainage which may not be present on existing maps or through visual observations. A greater level of survey coverage with uniquely applied techniques may provide better insights into assessing, planning and mitigating flood risk, as well as a tool for monitoring flood events as they occur.
